Bio

Hi! My name is Carl, and I go by CF Smith for my music endeavors. I live near the scenic Hood Canal on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State. 

I started playing guitar as a teenager back in the ‘60’s and played continuously during my high school and college years. 

After college, I had regular gigs as a solo performer at a coffee house, and in the mid-70’s, I was part of a folk-rock group that performed around the San Jose area of California.  My music is mainly influenced by blues styles, with some country and rock styles thrown in too. 

However. my dreams of becoming a rock star didn’t pan out, and my guitars mostly sat in a closet for many years while I pursued a “practical” career in the field of community planning.  When I retired some years ago, I dusted off my guitars and rediscovered the joy I find in creating music, and I intend to keep writing, playing and recording music as long as I enjoy it.

All the songs here were written, performed, and recorded by me at home using some basic equipment.  Although my songs, performances and recordings may lack the polish of more professionally produced music, I hope you will still find something to like about them.
